IAEM Mentor Portal

This mentor portal serves as a helpful tool for those looking to pursue a career in emergency management and gain quality insight as to where their next steps should be/ask for advice. Mentors range in a plethora of sectors such as Academia, Federal, Local, Healthcare, Military, Not for Profit, Private Sector, and State emergency management.

IAEM Professional Development Training Certificate (PDTC)

This certification works to educate future careers in emergency management by teaching the best practices and core skills from experienced emergency managers throughout the world.

California Emergency Services Association Mentor Program

“The Emergency Management mentoring program is designed to get you “in the know” sooner… by making peer to peer connections earlier in one’s career. We will help to pair up newcomers (Mentees) with seasoned professionals (Mentors).”

Minority Surge Capacity in Disasters Mentor Program

The SURGE program is dedicated to enhancing diversity among STEM and social science fields contributing to disaster research.

HERicane

HERricane is a national program by the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM) that provides women a means to explore a career in Emergency Management (as well as associated ones) while developing leadership skills, ensuring success in whatever path they choose. Women are underrepresented in Emergency Management but make up a disproportionate amount of disaster victims particularly regarding loss of life, sexual violence, and loss of income.

Resilience for Small Women & Minority

The SWAM Business Resilience Initiative identifies small businesses located in Opportunity Zones. These SWAM Businesses are offered the opportunity to participate in a hands-on program to assist with developing Business Continuity Plans that includes identifying risks, improving workforce readiness, strengthening and protecting supply chains, and developing mitigation and preparedness tactics to reduce risk and loss revenue.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston Women’s Peer Group

ABC represents the interests of women within the construction industry and assists with increasing the quality and availability to women that will promote a positive image to other women within and outside of the industry. Their vision is to assist women who are presently in the industry through education, community, and networking programs, and to provide a channel for women to enter the industry workforce.

WiES Mentorship Program

The WiES Mentorship Program is designed to support women pursuing careers in emergency management by connecting them with experienced mentors. The program provides guidance, professional development, and networking opportunities across various sectors. This initiative aids women as they navigate their careers and develop leadership skills in the emergency services field.

ISWA Women of Waste

The Women of Waste (WOW) initiative by ISWA advocates for women's visibility and leadership in the waste management sector. WOW fosters a global network, conducts research, provides training, and promotes safe and equitable workplaces. The initiative supports women in various roles and aims to integrate gender perspectives in sustainable waste management.

National Association of Women in Construction

NAWIC is a professional organization dedicated to supporting women in the construction industry. NAWIC provides its members with networking opportunities, educational resources, and professional development programs to enhance their careers. This association aims to promote the success and advancement of women in construction through advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement initiatives.
